“Giving up” is not a part of Meghan’s vocabulary. When she was assigned to her first case, the youth she was paired with started the meeting by stating that they didn’t want a CASA. Meghan took this setback in stride and asked the youth to give her a chance to get to know her before making a decision. Although the youth appeared to be in a stable placement and doing well at first, that placement eventually failed, and she was moved to a group home. Meghan remained the one constant presence in the youth’s life and advocated tirelessly for her education, therapy, and placement. When she was asked to become the child’s educational rights holder, Meghan didn’t hesitate and promised to do whatever she could to support the child.

Meghan’s unwavering commitment to her CASA youth goes above and beyond expectations. She attends all the meetings, including CFTMs, school meetings, and hearings. Meghan continues to support the youth through their frequent school absences, mental health crises, and drug use. Despite these challenges, Meghan never gives up and ensures that her CASA youth always feels supported. Meghan has dedicated countless hours and provided moral and emotional guidance for her CASA youth. She is a vital part to the CASA team and a true hero in our community.
